FI(H) Flight instructor qualification
The CEFA method !
The CEFA method draws on more than 30 years of experience in helicopter piloting. Our strength lies in our personalised methodology, which combines face-to-face theory lessons with online support, allowing each student to develop their skills at their own pace.
Prerequisites
- Pass a theoretical and practical assessment;
- Be at least 18 years old;
- Have received at least 10 hours of instrument flight instruction for the appropriate category of aircraft, including at most 5 hours of instrument flight on the ground in an FSTD;
- Have carried out 20 hours of VFR cross-country flight as pilot-in-command (PIC) in the appropriate category of aircraft;
- Have a minimum of 220 flying hours;
- Have completed at least 250 hours of flying time as a helicopter pilot, including at least 100 hours as PIC if the candidate holds at least a CPL(H), or at least 200 hours as PIC if the candidate holds at least a PPL(H) and has satisfied requirements related to theoretical knowledge for the CPL.
Depending on your existing licence/certificate, you will follow initial training, further training related to your type rating and ground lessons.
To obtain this qualification, you must at least have the professional theory certification (CPL(H)).
Theoretical programme
(125 HOURS OF THEORY INSTRUCTION MINIMUM)
- FI(H) EASA theoretical knowledge training done at our flight school (FR.ATO.0296);
- Minimum 25 hours of initial teaching;
- Minimum 100 hours of applied teaching.
Practical programme
(30 HOURS OF PRACTICAL TRAINING MINIMUM)
- FI(H) EASA practical training done at our flight school (FR.ATO.0296);
- Minimum 25 hours of double practical training;
- Minimum 5 hours of mutual practical training;
- Practical training given on Robinson R44;
- EASA Skill Test at the end of practical training.
