Since 1982, Chinook Helicopters has become one of the world’s premier flight training facilities. The company provides the global pilot community with a full spectrum of basic and specialized advanced flight and ground training on airplanes and helicopters. Chinook operates from a 40,000 square-foot, first-class facility at the Abbotsford Airport in British Columbia, Canada.

Mission and Values

Their mission has remained the same for over 40 years: to provide comprehensive, high-quality pilot training today in order to prepare their students for success in tomorrow’s demanding world.

They constantly promote aviation safety in their daily corporate culture and use the latest, best training platforms.

“23 years since my first flight with you folks, and I’m still waking up every morning excited to be flying helicopters. Approaching the 12,000hr milestone of accident-free flying and so very thankful for the solid, thorough training I received in the early stages of my career”

Their Dedication to Safety

Safety is at the heart of all their activities. Through their safety management system, they combine proactive monitoring, regular quality assurance audits and dedicated safety reviews to comply with regulatory standards, ensuring confidence and peace of mind.

Their History

Aviation business owner Larry Press, who’s background was flying float plane charters up and down the rugged B.C. coastline, began operating Chinook Helicopters at the Abbotsford airport in 1983 with the help of his wife Lynn and daughter Cathy. In 1998, Cathy Press took over the business from her father and continues to operate and foster growth to this day.
